About Me

Hi, I’m Edwin the founder of HikeBikeAndDrive.com.

I’m a manager in the Dutch optical retail industry by day, but the moment I get on my bike or lace up my hiking boots, that world disappears. Longdistance cycling and hiking aren’t just hobbies for me they’re how I recharge, explore, and see places most people drive straight past.

Over the years I’ve ridden and hiked routes across Europe: the Fiets Elfstedentocht (235 km in a single day), a multiday cycling trip from Berlin to Prague to Frankfurt, the full Pieterpad (567 km across 6 stages), and stretches of the Limes Route with more expeditions, including Bordeaux to Burgos, on the way.

Alongside my day job, cycling and photography have been part of my life since childhood bikepacking routes and capturing the road along the way go back further than any spreadsheet of stats could show. Over time, those two passions have come together in this growing platform: a place to share what I’ve learned with others, and to learn from them in return.

Why This Site Exists

Most platforms today are built for registering your rides tracking speed, distance, elevation, chasing segments. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not why I ride.

HikeBikeAndDrive.com is built around a different idea: looking back and preserving beautifully, not just registering. I want every route on this site to feel like a story worth revisiting with real stage breakdowns, GPX tracks you can actually use, photos and drone footage from the road, and the kind of practical detail I wished I’d had before I set out myself.
